HORNS IN THE ATTIC?? CLARINETS IN THE CLOSETS??
Calling all former band people!
It may have been years since you thought about that old trumpet or flute you played in band in high school,
but it's time to dig them out and dust them off!
Do you have an old band instrument that's just collecting dust around your house that you would be willing to lend or donate to the music room? I'm looking for all types of instruments, whether they are broken or in working condition. Loans and/or donations of any type are accepted and greatly appreciated!
Please contact Marcia Rothra at [email protected].

REQUIRED SUPPLIES FOR THIRD AND FOURTH GRADE
3rd and 4th Grade: $7.00 to purchase a recorder.
Please put $7.00 cash in a sealed envelope addressed to Mrs. Rothra, labeled with child's first and last name. See notes below:
Recorders will be used all during third and fourth grade, so every student needs their own instrument. Your $7.00 is purchasing the instrument and it is yours to keep. Due to concerns of lead in toys, recorders should ONLY be purchased from Mrs. Rothra and NOT from the dollar store or Walmart. The recorders purchased from her are high quality and come with a neck strap, blue zippered vinyl case, cleaning rod and joint grease.
If you bought one from Mrs. Rothra in third grade, you may use that for fourth grade. Also, recorders purchased in previous years may be passed down and used by a younger sibling. If you have a recorder that is no longer being used by anyone in your family,
you can "recycle" it back to the music room for in-class use!
ABOUT MRS. ROTHRA
My name is Marcia Rothra and I have been teaching at EWA since 2005. I am married and have two kids - a daughter who graduated from EWA in 2012 and a son who graduated in 2013. I grew up in Vermont and have lived in North Carolina for about 20 years!
I started playing the piano when I was five years old and love playing for musicals. Some musicals I've played for include Pirates of Penzance, West Side Story, and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. In 2012, I played for EWA's production of Cinderella.
My favorite things to do include spending time with my family, volunteering for and playing the piano for the North Carolina Theatre and Conservatory, driving my convertible punch buggy, crocheting, hanging out at the beach, watching movies, being involved at my church, reading, running, and of course, playing the piano.
Teaching is one of my passions, and I love what I do. Music is a powerful medium that enriches lives. It is my goal to help kids develop a love for music that they will carry with them for a long time after they leave my classroom. And having a little fun along the way can't hurt either!
